Race the Etape-du-Tour and Ride the alpine Tour-de-France routes

6 spots remaining

If you’ve got a competitive streak, this trip will deliver your ultimate French cycling experience.   It’s  centered around the Etape du Tour and Mont Blanc.  Based in one hotel overlooking Mont Blanc we'll prepare and race the Etape followed by a few days of relaxed riding on the 2016 Tour-de-France route.

Just up the road from DuckStore's base camp in Annecy we'll spend a week first preparing your participation in L’Etape du Tour.  We’ll provide support as you line up with thousands from around the world in the cyclosportive that will trace stage 20 of the 2013 Tour.  You’ll race a challenging 146km, around Lake Annecy, and through Les Bauges - 4,000m of constant up-and-down climbing in a rough and remote Alpine range - before the finish in Morzine.

After celebrating conquering L’Etape in the shadow of Mont Blanc, we’ll stay on at our hotel in Combloux, a perfect base to decompress and spend some incredible days cycling tin Mont Blanc country.  We are in 2016 Tour de France country and we'll explore all teh region has to offer.

Don’t worry, you’ll get your Tour fix too!   After every full day of riding, we’ll relax over local cuisine, watch LeTour on live TV, and share our passion for LeTour with cyclists and fans from around the world!    Maximum atmosphere, action and passion.   Minimum downtime and waiting.

If you prefer your Tour de France experience more about riding than spectating, and long to seriously challenge yourself on the same mountainous terrain as the giants of the Tour, then this trip is perfect for you!

Itinerary

DAYbyDAY

Day 1Friday July 8, 2016:  Arrival and Welcome

Arrive in Geneva, 1 hour transfer to hotel, light lunch, build bikes and get out for a short spin.  Dinner at the hotel.   30k / 300m climbing

Day 2Saturday July 9: L’Etape Recon

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we’ll use our bikes and the car to go see the last climb of the course.  It’s important to know your enemy.

Day 3 - Sunday July 10: L’Etape du Tour    L’Etape Recon and Mont Revard

Big Day!  The Etape-du-Tour.  A short 10 minute drive to the start.  After getting all sorted out we’ll wish you well before dashing off to our two private feed stations on the route.  Once in Morzine we’ll greet you at the finish with a hot meal before heading back to our hotel.

Day 4 – Monday July 11: Two formulas :

    1. Etape only - After breakfast we’ll shuttle you to the Geneva airport.

    2. Ride the Alps - The Etape finished we can have a lazy morning and enjoy the amazing environment around us.  The tour will be coming to this area soon so we’ll use our local knowledge to go out and enjoy some of the area’s best climbs at a relaxed pace.

During the Tour de France the pros will ride a 17km Time Trial from Sallanches to Megeve.  This is ride at our door step so we can set-up the same ride ending with a delicious terrace lunch in Megeve.

Day 5 – Tuesday July 12:

The Tour will also tackle one of the Northern Alps most difficult climbs called the Bissanne.  Today’s ride could be either up the hard or easy side of this climb offering 360° views from the top.  From there it’s a cruise back to our hotel

Day 6 – Wednesday July 13:
You’ve surely heard how beautiful lake Annecy is. Today’s ride from the hotel will take us down the Gorges d’Arly, along Lake Annecy and up to the Col de la Forclaz just as the pros will ride.  The views of the lake are stupendous and we’ll enjoy and watching paragliders overhead as we enjoy a terrific lunch.  We’ll then head back to the hotel via the Col des Aravis or back up the Gorges d’Arly.

Day 7 – Thursday July 14:
Today’s destination is Chamonix.  Alpinists and skiers dream of going to this unique town.  We’ll use some secret back roads to wind our way up to this unique town where we’ll have lunch and plenty of time to wonder around and enjoy all the shops or simply revel in the mountain views.  Depending on timing we’ll either watch today’s Tour stage live on TV in Chamonix or back at our hotel.  It’s an important stage finishing on the summit of Mont Ventoux.  We’ll use our vans to drive back the hotel for our last dinner and Bastille Day celebration.

Day 8 – Friday July 15:

After one last breakfast outside to the sounds of singing birds, it’s time to say “Au revoir et à Bientôt” .  We’ll shuttle you to the airport where you can catch your flight home.
